Happy Feet Webinar

, Hike Nova Scotia’s Happy Feet webinar is geared for new and experienced hikers interested in learning more about keeping their feet happy while hiking. Join Freeman Churchill, retired Pedorthist and former owner of Orthotics East. This one-hour session will cover:

- How to fit a pair of hiking boots/shoes
- Best practices / tips for keeping feet happy during a hike
- Common foot problems of hikers and how to avoid / treat them (such as how to avoid blisters and hot spots and more)
- How to treat tired feet (such as after long distance hiking)
- A question and answer session at the end
The presenter Freeman Churchill, recently retired Pedorthist. Freeman grew up in Yarmouth and started hiking at YMCA camp Wapomeo. While at Acadia, hiking was part of the Recreation curriculum. Into adult years it allowed him to wander through the woods wherever he was and survey the land, animal, bird and plant life. Hikes include Great Glenn Way in Scotland, Wicklow Way in Ireland, Isle of Wight, Cinque Terre, as well as much of Nova Scotia, tip to tip, Gros Morne, Snowdonia in Wales, Appalachian Trail, West Coast Trail and Sikkim. A certified Pedorthist (Canada) for over 35 years he has treated countless hikers and runners with a variety of foot related injuries and ailments at his clinic, Orthotics East Ltd.

Registration is required in advance. The webinar is free for Hike NS paid members and $20 for non-members (who then receive a free one-year individual membership). There is a limited number of spots available as we want to give attendees a chance to ask questions and this is better facilitated with smaller groups.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Hike NS requires one day of notice in order to reimburse anyone who wishes to cancel their registration (by 7 pm the day before the webinar). Sometimes Hike NS must cancel a webinar due to instructor illness, low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstance. If Hike NS has to cancel the webinar, you will be contacted as soon as possible and will be fully reimbursed. You will not be reimbursed if you missed the webinar because you could not find the webinar link. After registration you will receive a confirmation email with a link to the webinar.
