Solar Lighting for Trails & Public Spaces Webinar

February 23, 4:30 pm

Taking place on Monday, February 23 at 4:30 pm, Hike Nova Scotia will host the Solar Lighting for Trails and Public Spaces webinar with Solar Winds Energy. It will explore how modern solar lighting solutions can safely and sustainably enhance trails, parks, waterfronts and public spaces.

Facilitated by Neil Martin, Director of Solar Winds Energy Inc., this session will cover where and how solar lights can be installed, including simple, non-invasive installation methods that avoid trenching and minimize site disturbance. Topics include trail safety and liability considerations, vandalism-resistant design and proven performance in high winds and harsh coastal and winter conditions. Participants will learn about the cost advantages of solar lighting, low maintenance requirements, long service life and repairable, upgradeable designs that support long-term use. The webinar will also highlight smart lighting controls, environmental benefits and how solar lighting can support tourism, recreation and community events by extending safe use of public spaces after dark. The session will include a live demonstration of the lighting units, along with discussion of grants and provincial funding opportunities that may support future projects. This webinar is ideal for municipalities, trail organizations, parks and recreation staff and community groups seeking practical, resilient and sustainable lighting solutions.
