Guided Walks

Call for Fall 2021 Guided Walks
Deadline: August 9th, 2021

Hike NS invites groups across NS to partner with us to deliver Fall guided walks/hikes in September, October and November of 2021. The purpose of the event series is to: get more people in NS hiking and walking; highlight local trails and increase their use; and promote Hike NS and local trail/hiking/walking groups.

Hike NS will help promote events and provide a how-to guide and trail prizes to giveaway. If your municipality, First Nation or organization can organize an event (or already plan to host one), please register your event by August 9, 2021 for events between September 10 and November 14, 2021. Only the first 50 events will be accepted (spots might fill up before the deadline, so don't delay). Note that one organization may register only up to five hikes and register only one event per online form. You will be contacted soon after the deadline to confirm the details of your event. You will receive a confirmation email immediately after submitting this form (please contact us if you do not receive one).

COVID-19 accommodations: Hike NS has guidance for our walk/hike hosts on how to run guided walks/hikes while respecting social distancing and public health protocols. For example, registration will be required for all walks/hikes so numbers can be managed to respect public health pandemic protocols. Guided Hike COVID-19 Guidelines

Winter Guided WalksSeries 2020
Hike Nova Scotia and 15 host organizations offered the 2021 Winter Guided Walk Series from January to March across NS. Over 515 people attended 28 hikes led by local folks and participants qualified to win “trail prizes.” Hike NS thanks its partners for organizing the hikes on the ground as well as The Trail Shop, Goose Lane Editions and the NS Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage for their support.

Other Events
Other events, organized by our partners and others, are listed on our Events page.

Free Hike Leaders
Hike NS does not have the volunteer or staff capacity to provide free hike leaders to specific groups, so please contact your local community trail group or municipal recreation department - they might be able to help. And there are lots of free guided hike events already scheduled for you and your group to enjoy on our Events page, organized by various organizations across the province.
