Intro to Geocaching

Taking place on March 30 at 7 pm, Hike Nova Scotia’s Intro to Geocaching webinar is geared for those who are interested in geocaching but don’t know how to start. Join Katrina and Phil of the Association of Nova Scotia Geocaching as they show:
  • How to get started Geocaching
  • What to find and what to do once you do find it
  • How to sign up and use the app or online
Note: This is a live webinar only; there will be no recording available afterward. If you miss it, don’t worry, we plan to offer this webinar regularly.

Presenter
Katrina MacKinnon and Phil Chatelaine are your presenters. Their Geocaching name is JoKaPhJe (they never expected anyone to have to pronounce their name when they picked it). They have been geocaching for about five years. They started getting a few Geocaches here and there and it developed into a great hobby. It also got them into hiking. Their first hike was McNabs Island and their second was Cape split. From there, they got addicted to getting out of the city and onto the great trails around Nova Scotia. Last year they found their 5,000th milestone geocache while doing the Cape Chignecto loop and conquered the Beast and got the badge. They have placed, own and maintain 175 geocaches. A couple of their geocaches are in the top 50 across Nova Scotia.

It is offered in partnership with the Association of Nova Scotia Geocaching and the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

Cost
Registration is required in advance. It is free for Hike NS paid members and $20 for non-members (who then receive a free one-year individual membership). There is a liimited number of spots available.
