Intro to Birding Webinar

Taking place on Wednesday, May 5 at 7 pm, Hike Nova Scotia’s Intro to Birding webinar is geared for new and experienced hikers interested in learning more about watching and identifying birds. Join Diane LeBlanc, President of the Nova Scotia Bird Society, as she introduces how to bird while hiking. She will cover topics including birding etiquette, equipment, common birds to watch for and areas and times to spot certain types of birds. Diane will share some of her experiences birding in favorite hiking locations.

Note: This is a live webinar only; there will be no recording available afterward.

Presenter
The presenter is Diane LeBlanc, President of the Nova Scotia Bird Society. Diane’s obsession with birding started in 2015 when she became transfixed by a Field Sparrow on Sandy Cove Road in HRM. That “spark bird” changed her life – she now goes birding as often as possible, In fact, she is known to walk out on her own guests to “twitch” a rare bird. Diane enjoys long hikes to familiar and novel places across Nova Scotia to observe birds. Her volunteer work with NSBS and Nature Nova Scotia centres on protecting birds and conserving habitat.  She’s a certified 100% bird nerd!

It is offered in partnership with the Nova Scotia Bird Society and the NS Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage.
